WINk Magazine, The Light Issue

WINk‘s second issue is now live at www.wink-mag.com. Featuring the work of several WIN photographers from around the world, the second issue—titled The Light Issue—was designed by Mark Von Ulrich. Photographers in the spotlight include Brooklyn-based Bill Phelps, whose images are evocative of turn of the century aesthetics. Stas Solntsev‘s sunlit photographs have a distinct summer feel, with surf boards and sand gleaming in the South African sun. Jet-setting between Dubai and India, Tejal Patni‘s glossy, slick work could double as film stills.

As always, the articles strive to shine a light (er, pun intended) on the photographers and their motivations, including a look at Antòn Khlivnyy‘s digital manipulations. Having recently spent time with blind photographers, the feature “In the Absence of Light” examines the work created by the Seeing With Photography Collective, whose lack of eyesight doesn’t deter the artistic bunch from creating remarkable works of art.

Special thanks to everyone who made this second issue possible, including Bill Phelps for letting us have the launch party from his bistro, Moto, as well as Roberto De Luna and Derek Peck, from PLANET magazine, for chatting with WINk about the current state of photography, stock or otherwise. Look for their interview in the “Mouthing Off” section of the magazine. Head over to the site now, where you can flip through the magazine, access individual sections from the dropdown menu and even download the mag as a PDF. Now that we’re getting back to work on our third issue, tentatively titled “Provocative,” feel free to let us know what you’d like to see more of from WINk magazine by emailing us.
